Several well-wishers comprised of friends, business colleagues and doctors gathered at the University of Cebu Medical Center Project Site at Subangdaku, Mandaue City for the Ground Breaking and Blessing Rite of the said project.
The activity was presided by Ms. Candice Gotianuy, UC Chancellor, then followed by the blessing and introductory prayer by Rev. Fr. Jesus B. Reyes, Rev. Fr. Ernesto Javier, SJ, Rev. Manuel Uy, SJ, and Rev. Msgr. Eser Binghay, JCD. After the blessing of the whole area, the lacing of symbols to the time capsule was initiated. Mrs. Elizabeth Go placed the Saint Benedict Medallion and Newspaper of the Day; Atty. Augusto W. Go placed the Incorporator’s paper and pictures of the incorporators with names on it; Ms. Candice G. Gotianuy placed the blueprint of UCMed; Dr. Jose Lito Almedras placed the Creed of Medical profession; Dir. Asuncion M. Anden placed the DOH permit; and Hon. Mayor Jonas Cortes placed the locator’s map of UCMed and Mandaue City. After placing all items, the time capsule was lowered to the hole and was shoveled with concrete. After the activity, photo op followed. Then some refreshments were served at the tent, while media interview huddled.
As the first Level 4 Hospital in Mandaue City, the University of Cebu Medical Center will stand 12-storey high across an 8,000 square meter property or land owned by University of Cebu of roughly 1.3 hectares.
Its floor area will be close to 30,000 square meters with a massive entrance lobby, Emergency Room, Radiology Section with X-Ray, MRI and reception, doctors clinics, the Intensive Care Unit, Dialysis Center, operating rooms, admitting area, chapel, conference rooms, wards, private rooms and suite rooms designed by architectural firm Espina, Perez-Espina & Associates led by Archt. Maxwell Espina. Said project will be constructed by Primary Structures Corporation.
